“If you knew Time as well as I do, you wouldn’t talk about wasting it.” The Mad Hatter
“It's always tea-time” is a part of the Midnight in Wonderland abstract series.
The Mad Hatter is a figure of liberation and unease. He exists beyond the rules that make life predictable: linear time, politeness, reason and the pressure to behave as expected. In his world, madness is not simply chaos. It can also be a refusal to shrink oneself to fit the ordinary.
This work asks what remains when certainty slips away: fear? Perhaps, but also play, imagination and the possibility of seeing life differently. The Hatter’s eccentricity becomes a kind of freedom, although never an entirely comfortable one.
Like much of Midnight in Wonderland, the painting inhabits the threshold between enchantment and disturbance. It invites us to question whether we are afraid of losing control, or afraid of discovering a part of ourselves that has been waiting, quietly, outside the rules.
This is an Original 16 by 16 inch mixed media & oil painting on a gallery-wrapped canvas. It comes with the wiring on the back and is ready to hang, right out of the box.
