We are all mad here!

Mixed media + oil - 40 x 40 x 4cm (16 x 16in)

“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat.  “We’re all mad here.”

“We are all mad here!” is part of the Midnight in Wonderland abstract series

The never-ending party feels abundant and inviting at first. There is comfort in repetition, another cup, another pour, another moment before anyone has to leave. But the longer we look, the more unsettling it becomes: mismatched teacups, overflowing pots and desserts left behind.

This painting explores the strange space between comfort and chaos, the moment when familiarity begins to lose its warmth and starts to feel disorienting. In Wonderland, madness is not reserved for one character; it belongs to everyone who enters. As the Cheshire Cat reminds Alice, she cannot avoid it. The moment she arrives, she is already part of it.

At the heart of Midnight in Wonderland is the opposing pull between comfort and exploration, the desire to remain within the safety of what we know, while longing to discover what lies beyond it.

This suspended scene is a reminder not to stay at the table for too long. Even the most beautiful gathering can become a cage when we forget that we have a right to leave.

This is an Original 16 by 16 inch mixed media & oil painting on a gallery-wrapped canvas. It comes with the wiring on the back and is ready to hang, right out of the box.
